Privacy Notice and Disclosure

The Bliley Federal Credit Union, your member-owned financial institution, is committed to protecting your privacy.  Under federal law we are required to provide you with the BFCU privacy policy and practices concerning the personal information we collect and disclose about our members.

Our privacy policy begins with this basic promise:  We will demonstrate and maintain a dedicated commitment to protect the privacy of our members.  We will also implement our practices to support the privacy policies to fully and completely protect our members. 

The following policy was established to maintain the security and confidentiality of your personal financial information.  It also describes how we collect information about our members and how it is disclosed.  The policy also describes information about the parties who receive personal and nonpublic information from us as we conduct the daily business of the credit union.

Information We Collect About You

We collect public and nonpublic information about you from the following sources:

v    Information we receive from you on applications and other forms

v    Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates, or others

v    Information we receive from a credit reporting agency in regards to lending.

v    Information obtained when we verify information provided by you on applications or other forms.  This ay be obtained from current or past employers or from other institutions where you conduct business.

Disclosure Of Information To Parties That Provide Services To Us

In order to provide our members with competitive products and quality services we may disclose information that we obtained as described above in this notice.  We may disclose this information to companies that provide services on our behalf such as insurance companies or other financial institutions with which we have joint marketing or business agreements.  We may also disclose nonpublic or personal information about you under circumstances permitted or required by law.

To Opt Out of Disclosure of Information:

If you prefer that we do not disclose nonpublic information about you to nonaffiliated third parties, you may opt out of those disclosures, that is, you may direct us not to make those disclosures (other than disclosures permitted by law).  If you wish to opt out of disclosures to nonaffiliated third parties, you should contact us by forward in writing your name, address and account number to Bliley Federal Credit Union at 2545 West Grandview Boulevard, P.O. Box 3428, Erie, PA  16508.  You may opt out of these disclosures at any time.  When your request is received we have a reasonable amount of time to stop the disclosures.  This may take up to 90 days.

How We Protect Your information

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those volunteers and employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you.  We maintain physical, electronic, or procedural safeguards to comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.

What Members Can Do To Help

Bliley Federal Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy of its members.  Members can help accomplish this by following these simple guidelines:

v    Use caution when disclosing your account numbers, social security numbers, etc., to other persons.  If someone calls on behalf of the Credit Union and asks for your account number, please be cautious.  The Credit Union staff has access to this information and will not need to ask you.

v    Keep your information with us current.  If your address or phone number changes, please inform us.  It is important we have current information on file.  If the Bliley Federal Credit Union detects potentially fraudulent or unauthorized activity or use of your account, we will attempt to contact you immediately.
